Some funny stuff in there. My favorite comment. -People always want what they can´t get. Ha ha funny stuff.

enjoy.

Some kind of review.

I had just finished some “homework” for our common employer and wanted to go to bed about an hour ago when I remembered that I got a copy of Pontus latest movie and had Patrick’s words from Friday in mind saying “I was almost crying when it was finished”…

So I put it in my computer (my old TV and especially the DVD-Player are shit). Before I start I have to say that I was really tired before I pressed “play”, but curiosity won. Usually I get bored of today’s skate videos very quick, especially when it’s only street skating and even more, when they “just” show tricks tricks tricks (Ok, back then I got bored, too…riding always made more sense to me than watching others ride).

Now this DVD: starting with street skating and tricks tricks tricks. But this was different. Yes, it also but it got me hooked in an instant, because I could feel the energy from the start. And the best (for me): Transitions everywhere: In selfmade pools, train yard fences, banks, parks… It was like watching men (skaters) succeeding over their usually boring surroundings. And it went beyond the glossy super-equipped skate-video-making that bores me so much nowadays that I can’t even find words for it.

“In Search…” for me summons what I liked most about skating: Being together with people you like and share a common passion, building your own stuff DIY-style and becoming independent from transportation (to get to parks) and money (for entrance).

I don’t know Pontus, but seeing his movie and the personal insights he gives (not meaning showing off his wiener, but integrating his passed family) I believe this means so much to him and I hope he’ll receive the props he deserves for it!

To you guys: Thank you! As pathetic this might sound, but why should I write this, if I didn’t feel it? I’m not close to crying as Patrick, but instead I’m going to bed with a smile on my face.

Best,

Is there anything out there you’re looking forward to in skate video land these days?

Well Mindfield ticked a lot of boxes for me and I just saw ‘In Search Of The Miraculous’, which is Pontus Alv’s new film. That thing is crazy on a level that no one else can really touch, it’s the most intense personal project that follows through on the editing and visuals like you would not believe. I know I said Mindfield raised the bar for skate visuals, but ‘Miraculous’ is unbelievable.  I think there’s even a corpse in the intro. The skating is so gnarly too and I think you are missing a trick by not missing people like Pontus, Mackey and Wainwright out of the Static series so far. I’d like to see another British video that actually does step up and produce something interesting and original on an international level, if I’m honest.
